Which templates work for Reels
Any vertical 9:16 template fits a Reel. The rows above are the top of CapCut's Instagram Reels page on September 25, 2026, but TikTok trend templates work the same way. In the app, search "reels" or "instagram" in the Templates tab.
Export settings for Instagram Reels
These are general best practices for Reels, not CapCut settings. CapCut exports from 720p up to 4K depending on your device.
- Aspect ratio: 9:16 (most templates already are).
- Resolution: 1080x1920 (1080p).
- Frame rate: 30fps, or 60fps if your source clips are 60fps.
- Format: MP4.

Music rights on Instagram
A track that comes with a CapCut template may not be cleared for use on Instagram. This is not confirmed either way. If Instagram mutes or flags your Reel, export without the audio and add a track from Instagram's own music library instead.
Making Reels without a template
